  • AshBritt Rolls into Tallahassee to Support Lauren's Kids, April 2010 [ VIDEOS ]

AshBritt Environmental is taking a stance for Sexual Assault Awareness Month by supporting Lauren’s Kids’ “Walk in My Shoes,” a peaceful march to  encourage support and passage of all pending legislation that will protect children from sexual assault.  Lauren Book-Lim, Lauren’s Kids’ founder and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, is leading a 500 mile walk that began on April 2 in the parking lot of Aventura Mall and will cross the finish line on April 20 at the steps of the State Capitol in Tallahassee, as the legislative session comes to a close.  AshBritt donated the services of one of its motor coaches, which is typically utilized to house AshBritt’s “first responders” during disaster response and recovery operations.  The motor coach will follow Book-Lim and her supporters throughout the 500 mile journey with food, water and other essential items.  Tim Mooney, Regional Marketing Manager of AshBritt, walked alongside Lauren with his two young grandchildren during the kick-off for “Walk in My Shoes.”

“AshBritt Environmental is a company that believes in helping the community - whether that means picking up debris after a storm, or walking alongside a young woman who endured a tragic event and is working towards giving a voice for other sexual assault victims,” said Mooney.  “We are honored to be a part of Lauren’s ‘Walk in My Shoes’ demonstration that will hopefully generate passion for this cause from around the State.www.laurenskids.org/Walk-In-My-Shoes.html

  • AshBritt Enviornmental Grants Birthday Wish for Foster Child of Labelle, Feb 2010

Labelle, FL. –AshBritt Environmental understands the limited resources some foster parents encounter after bringing a new child into their home, which is why the environmental emergency management company was compelled to donate a bicycle and a cash donation to support Foster Children Wishes, Inc. (FCW) during the organization’s “Birthday Wishes” themed month.

Founded in 2009, Foster Children Wishes, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supplying foster families with toys, educational tools and everyday necessities. Laurie Carley, president of Foster Children Wishes, Inc., was introduced to Matt Gierden, regional manager of AshBritt Environmental, at the 2010 Florida Emergency Preparedness Association Conference. After learning of the financial strains many foster parents face and FCW’s goal to help, AshBritt knew they had to do something to support the foster families of the LaBelle community.
“We hope our donation will bring a big smile to a child’s face after the birthday candles are blown out,” said Gierden. “Because of Foster Children Wishes, Inc., these fortunate children will have the opportunity to laugh and play with toys and games beside parents who cherish their child’s laughter.”

  • RISE Across Texas Challenge, April 2010

Three members of AshBritt Environmental joined cyclists who donated and collected over $1.7 million for first annual RISE Across Texas Challenge.  In an effort to fund a capital campaign to build a permanent facility for the RISE School of Austin, AshBritt Environmental biked alongside hundreds of cyclists, composed of local celebrities, community leaders, and national supporters during a portion of the two-week, 872 mile journey through the temperamental Texas terrain.

The non-profit, early-education school for children with and without special needs currently leases space from the First Evangelical Free Church in the southwest part of Austin, Texas.  Dedicated teachers arrive extra early to set up their classrooms every Monday, knowing that each Friday they must empty their classrooms for the church’s weekend activities.

As an organization that is an active supporter of Best Buddies, AshBritt felt the need to get involved. “Respecting our company’s mission of contributing support to our community, we knew it was the perfect way for AshBritt to provide help to the children and families of the RISE School of Austin,” said Rob Ray, Vice President of Marketing for AshBritt Environmental.  “We look forward to giving back to our community here in Texas by continuing to be a part of The RISE Across Texas Challenge in the future.”

By the end of the Challenge, the total amount raised was $1,716,268.00.  To learn more about The RISE Across Texas Challenge, please visit RISEAcrossTexas.org
